I've SEEN you eat that many eggs, by the way.

doesn't mean I wanna make them for you in the middle of the night.

You asked! If I would have known you meant "what kind of food do you want that isn't scrambled eggs" I would have picked something else.

shut up and come get your eggs.

I think you have better things to do than make me eggs. Like sleeping.

now you don't want the eggs?

I wasn't sleeping anyway.

I'm not one to really talk. Is everything okay? Do you need me to come over for eggs?

[ Subtle, Steve! ]

yes, Steve, I need you to come over for eggs BECAUSE YOU JUST ASKED ME TO MAKE THEM FOR YOU AND YOU'D BETTER EAT THEM.

[ And maybe he wouldn't mind the company. ]

[avengerings]

You could have just said you'd like a little company. I'll see you soon.

fine but you'd better eat these eggs.

[ Knock knock, Bucky.

Steve's not really out at night for decent reasons ever, so this is kind of a nice excursion. He almost wishes he hadn't mentioned the eggs. Maybe if Barnes hasn't already started scrambling, he could talk the guy into something else.

Either way, he's leaning an arm on the door frame knowing full well he's being made to wait.

This is what he gets for craving eggs in the middle of the night, isn't it? A little heartburn named Bucky Barnes. ]

[ Bucky answers the door in a pair of sweats and a T-shirt. He's dressed for bed, but he doesn't look like he's been getting any sleep.

Either way, there's a hint of relief poking through his stony expression when he sees Steve. ]

You actually came.

[avengerings]

I actually came.

[ Big (dopey) charming smile and all. He grabs Bucky's shoulder, turns him, shoves him into the room, all very playfully. ]

You just remember that I was here for you in your time of need.

[ huehuehue ]

[ Bucky lets Steve guide him with minimal resistance. ]

Hey, hold on! You were the one askin' me to make you eggs. My time of need...

[ He huffs. ]

[avengerings]

[ The dopey smile turns sly and Rogers shrugs out of his jacket, intent on making himself at home. ]

I parked on the street, so you're stuck with me if I get towed.

[lednikovyy]

Stuck with Steve Rogers? That'll be a new and different experience for me.

[ But he likes watching Steve get comfortable in his place. Bucky figures if anyone belongs in his living space, it's Steve. He's almost disappointed that they can afford their own places now. ]

[avengerings]

[ Steve chuckles lightly and waits for Bucky before heading into the kitchen. ]

Do you do a lot of entertaining in the middle of the night?

[lednikovyy]

Loads. Are you jealous?

[ He loops his arm around Steve's neck as they walk into the kitchen. It still feels odd that he's taller than Bucky now, but he's still so undeniably Steve that Bucky doesn't dwell on it. ]

[avengerings]

[ It's better not to dwell, Buck, but truth be told, some days Steve finds himself misjudging heights for precisely the same reason. ]

Should I be?

[lednikovyy]

Definitely.

[ He leans his weight into Steve affectionately and pulls away to start pulling out a frying pan. ]

You really just want eggs?

[avengerings]

Are you offering more?

[ He'll let you elaborate, go ahead. ]

[lednikovyy]

You can have anything in my kitchen, but it's not much.

[ And he didn't say he'd cook any of it. ]

[avengerings]

I'm sure it's more than enough. But the eggs are just fine for now.

[ And now he's just going to stand around and gratuitously watch the process while probably getting in the way. ]
