I actually came.

[ Big (dopey) charming smile and all. He grabs Bucky's shoulder, turns him, shoves him into the room, all very playfully. ]

You just remember that I was here for you in your time of need.

[ Bucky lets Steve guide him with minimal resistance. ]

Hey, hold on! You were the one askin' me to make you eggs. My time of need...

[ He huffs. ]

[ The dopey smile turns sly and Rogers shrugs out of his jacket, intent on making himself at home. ]

I parked on the street, so you're stuck with me if I get towed.

Stuck with Steve Rogers? That'll be a new and different experience for me.

[ But he likes watching Steve get comfortable in his place. Bucky figures if anyone belongs in his living space, it's Steve. He's almost disappointed that they can afford their own places now. ]

[ Steve chuckles lightly and waits for Bucky before heading into the kitchen. ]

Do you do a lot of entertaining in the middle of the night?

Loads. Are you jealous?

[ He loops his arm around Steve's neck as they walk into the kitchen. It still feels odd that he's taller than Bucky now, but he's still so undeniably Steve that Bucky doesn't dwell on it. ]

[ It's better not to dwell, Buck, but truth be told, some days Steve finds himself misjudging heights for precisely the same reason. ]

Should I be?

Definitely.

[ He leans his weight into Steve affectionately and pulls away to start pulling out a frying pan. ]

You really just want eggs?

[avengerings]

Are you offering more?

[ He'll let you elaborate, go ahead. ]

You can have anything in my kitchen, but it's not much.

[ And he didn't say he'd cook any of it. ]

[avengerings]

I'm sure it's more than enough. But the eggs are just fine for now.

[ And now he's just going to stand around and gratuitously watch the process while probably getting in the way. ]

[ Bucky moves around his small kitchen easily, scrambling the eggs and even throwing some salt and pepper in. You're welcome, Steve.

He keeps glancing at Steve out of the corner of his eye and twice he has to pause to gently move Steve out of his way, but he doesn't mind Steve standing close. Truth be told, being on the run had been lonely once his memories had started coming back.

Besides, he likes having Steve around. He always has.

Once they're cooked, he grabs two plates and fills them. ]

The things I do for you.

[ Of course the fond little smile playing at the corners of his lips should make it clear just how much he doesn't mind. ]
