Bucky clings right back to Steve, well aware that they don't get things like forever and the promise to never leave isn't real and it can't be. Neither of them would be okay with that and there will always be more fights. Even Bucky's quiet life had been interrupted this time when they'd needed his help. Neither of them are the kind of men who can turn their back on fighting entirely, even if they're both tired.
"I know." He shifts around to find a more comfortable position on the floor, arms still wrapped around Steve. "I woke up and you were gone."
Normally, Bucky wouldn't let himself be this openly clingy, but he thinks it's warranted right now. He'd been so scared and he knows Steve was probably scared, too. He thinks they're allowed to have this, even if it's only for a few minutes. They can have a little illusion of safety.
